Ned needs to put Cueto "on blast" at some point before the playoffs. It's the only way this works out.

Don't think it's quite to that point with Cueto, although Ned has recent proven success with blasting.

This is 2 poor starts now out of the 6 he has pitched for.  1 out of 6 being poor with the other 5 being solid I would be fine with.......

If he comes out tonight and goes 7.0 gives up 2, well now you have 4 starts that combine for 5 ER, a 5th start where u go 6.0 gives up 3 in Rogers Center (thats a B minus start in that ballpark). And the bad 6th one in Boston


Well, he didn't do that and he wasn't close to doing that. So now after a 1.80 thru 4 starts,  he has thrown back 2 back pittyful starts. 

Tonight was game 126. He has 6 starts left, cause he isn't gonna pitch game 161.  I still have a ton of confidence in him.  I think he is gonna be fine, and I'm sure as heck not hitting the panic button.
The next 2 starts are at home (Det ChiSox) then gets Balt again. I want to see him be solid in all 3 of those.

Does Cueto make the postseason roster? I just don't know. Paulo Orlando and Chris Young may have more value in a playoff series.

i'm not any more worried about cueto than i was before yesterday (not much anyways), but there's no reason at all to consider his last two games flukes or outliers.  if you look at his stats by month over the last several years, it's pretty clear that he's a little streaky.

i just looked up cueto's gamescores over that last 4 years.  from 2012-today, he's pitched 103 games, including 20 with gamescores below 50.  so, he averages about 1 bad game every 5 starts.  just from eyeballing it, there looked to be some clustering - one poor game was more frequently followed by another than you might expect if random.  but it didn't look like he had many occasions where he went bad and stayed bad for long periods of time.

again from just eyeballing the data - there didn't seem to be much correlation between walks and poor games.  when he has a poor game it seems like it is usually because he gives up a lot of hits.

despite starting the month 2 for 21 with 0 HRs, Moose is hitting .260/.368/.562 with 5 HRs, 15 RBI, 11 BB, 8 SO in August.
