in all seriousness though, unless the royals think alex won't be back and good for the playoffs OR they think manaea sucks or is permanantly hurt, i really don't the trade. zobrist seems to be a great guy to start the season with but not a post season difference maker.

His OPS is slightly higher than Moose.  He is better than Rios or Infante. He hits .321 off lefties. If anyone else goes down (except Salvy) he is your replacement

it's fine either way but there are two sides. i see both and am not arguing one vs the other.

How low will our lead in the central have to get before you become concerned? For me, it's 4 games.

Scouts came on 810 this week and said Manaea was throwing a 95 mph before his injury and is only topping out at 89-91 right now. The royals definitely saw some red flags.

We need Moose and Salvy to break out of their slumps soon.
Moose 17-95.  Salvy 22-126

moose looked pretty bad today.  and salvy, it's probably time to stop thinking of him as a better than average offensive player.  he's basically gotten worse every year he's been in the majors.

Salvy is definitely interesting. I like his pop at times, but damn, he'll swing at anything.

He has power, just no discipline. You're right in assuming he probably won't correct that at this point.

Ya, I meen he kept his average at .280 or above every day in April-May, and kept it at  least .270 all through June. I would not have expected that going into this year.   But now it's dipped below .250 with his slumping July

If he ends the year as a.260 hitter with a SLUG about .425-.440, I think I can totally live with that.

I'm anxious to see how his first game goes tonight.  I hope to catch at least part of the game this evening.

Just sucks when he hits .255 with a .256 OBP

Not fun fact: Carlos Febles (bad hitter) has a higher career OBP than any of our middle infielders.

I'm still pretty nervous about our chances in winning last year's wildcard game guys. the 2014 A's will be tough.

Position by position, we're better across the board in 2015

2014 Royals vs. 2015 Royals:

C: Same, maybe a little bit better before this slump
1B: Better
2B: Worse, unless Zobrist takes over, then better
SS: Same
3B: Better
LF: Gordon (assume ok by September), Same
CF: Better
RF: Worse-ish, unless Dyson steps up. Then could be same.
DH: Better

SP1: Cueto vs Shields: Cueto
SP2: Volquez vs Vargas: Volquez
SP3: Yordano vs Yordano: Yordano 2014, but I'm going same #teamhope
SP4: Duffy vs Duffy: 2014 Duffy, but I'm still hopeful he'll be good going forward
SP5: Guts vs Guts/Young: meh. I guess 2014 Guts, but he started game 7 and won't this year.

PEN:
Holland: Better in 14
Wade: Better in 15
Herrera: Same
Madson vs Frasor: Madson 15
Morales vs Finnegan: Morales
Hoch vs Crow or Collins: Hoch
Medlen vs. Chen or whoever was in the pen for long relief: Medlen.

We're so good.

the thing about the better/worse comparos is I only care about the playoff ones. like, if we are going into the playoffs right now and assume current moose is what 2015 playoffs moose will be then 2014 playoff moose kicks his ass. this is a small sample size and for all I know 2015 playoff royals will make an equal to or greater surge of goodness but it's just what I'm thinking about.

that's fair. playoff Hos was pretty great, and current Hos is even better.  :driving:
