When asked in post game if he's concerned about Yordano's "consistent inconsistency",  Ned confirmed that he is.

I'd be OK if Ned sent him back down until his "consistent inconsistency" became just "consistent". Between his hotheadedness early in the season and dealing with the injury, I just don't think it's worth risking games on his "inconsistency". Granted, Royals have a decent lead in the division to give up a few here and there, but for my money, his juice isn't worth the squeeze at the moment.

i wish we wouldn't have broken Yordano just because he had too much swag. in my perfect world, you let yordano tell adam eaton to go eff himself, because that means he is pitching 7 scoreless

Yes. I think Yordano is up on the mound thinking, "Gee whiz, I'd better not upset this gentleman in the batter's box by spewing profanities at him," and then he can't place his pitches correctly. Ned needs to get off his back and let Yordano be the enforcer he was born to be.

And yes, it was Adam Eaton. Nobody on this planet has ever deserved to be told "eff you" more than that crap eating bastard, other than maybe Mike Trout.

gmafb with the ventura's problems are mental crap.  whether you think he's some injury-faking head case, or think that he can't pitch unless he's allowed to yell at the opposing players.

when he sucks, he sucks because the ball doesn't go where he wants it to, just like every other pitcher in the world that sometimes sucks.

Those other pitchers' problems are mostly mental, too.

only if you consider the brain telling the body how to move to throw a ball mental.

Ventura's brain stops telling his body how to move to throw a ball every time a runner gets on base. He's still pretty good when nobody's on.

Or it's a completely different motion with more things to think about, oh and a fairly small sample size too.

It's actually almost the same motion with Ventura, and yeah, more things to think about supports that it's a mental issue.

Ventura has not really learned how to deal with adversity very well. The bigger problem is that he can't throw a rough ridin' breaking ball for a strike. The Royals need to send him down to the minors for the rest of the AAA season with a comprehensive plan to get him back on track. He needs to have a dedicated mentor (maybe they can hire trash dick) to work with him on his attitude/focus, and he rough ridin' HAS to learn to throw a breaking ball for a strike, because his changeup is dreadful. They probably need to add a pitch to the repertoire so he has something other than his change to fall back on when the curve isn't working.

I think the Royals should try to instill superstition into Ventura. He needs lucky socks or something. Anything to take his mind off of the awful season he's having.

It isn't the same motion.  2 games back since (1 was a win, and a decent performance by the way) a DL stint makes me inclined to give our "ace" a few more opportunities.

He gave up 3 runs and only lasted 5 innings the game before this last one. That's not decent at all.

That is decent. It isn't great, but if he had gone another scoreless inning it's a QS. He threw 88 pitches, and had one bad inning.

It's decent in the sense that it's one of his better performances of the season, but it's not decent in the sense that if he went out and did that every start, he'd still be the worst starter on the roster.

He's only managed to give up less than 4 runs in the first 5 innings of his starts 7 times. Half of his starts have been complete implosions that give the Royals little to no chance of winning.

rank your royals starters right now (to this day):

1. Volquez
2. Duffy
3. Young
4. Guthrie
5. Vargas
6. Ventura
