I would not trade Duffy to get a rent a player like Cueto.
That said, calling him "not that good" isn't accurate. Unless you are just saying he isn't good enough to give up someone like Duff
Cueto WHIP is 0.95, league hitting .199 vs him.
v
this season. career he's a 3.81 fip pitcher, all in the national league. he's good, but not "ace" good. he doesn't have the career length, but medlen, for example, posted better numbers during the short time that he was healthy.
2014-- 2.25 ERA. Started 34 games. 22 of those he had an "in-game ERA" of 2.25 or lower. 7 other starts were deemed " quality starts" by MLB standards. Only gave up 4+ ERs in 4 starts
So he has been pretty damn solid ACE material last 1.5 years
2011, 2.31 ERA in 24 starts.
2012, he was 19-9 2.78 in 33 starts
2013, he was hurt a lot, but 2.82 ERA in 11 starts, 1.05 WHIP, .209 Average allowed
Shields was always healthy, but ERA is about 3.40 last 3.5 years, 3.73 for his career
