If you were Dayton Moore, would you trade Duffy for 4 months of Cueto?

I don't think the Royals will make any moves, but if you were manager would you?

I don't want to pay Jay oscar $12.5 million next year to be a slight upgrade over what we have right now. Orlando, Dyson, Rios give us plenty of options in right field. At any given time, one of those guys should be hitting well enough to justify starting. Gordon will be back for the playoffs, which is all that matters at this point, because we're going to run away with this division. Cueto is 'meh' city for me. I don't want to give up Duffy, who is pitching just as well as Cueto over the last month, plus a couple of our best prospects for a guy that we control for less than half of a major league season. I think Dayton will stand pat, and I think that's the right move.

i wouldn't be surprised at all if duffy is a better pitcher than cueto over the remainder of the year.  no way i'd even consider that trade.

jay oscar doesn't make sense.  they don't need another left handed bat.  they need to get more right handed.  if they want to play a lefty, they've got dyson.  defense doesn't slump.

List of recent game 1 starters for World Series Champions:

2014   Madison Bumgarner
2013   Jon Lester
2012   Barry Zito
2011   Chris Carpenter
2010   Tim Lincecum
2009   CC Sabathia
2008   Cole Hamels
2007   Josh Beckett

I understand not wanting to give up on Duffy, but WS winners have ace(s) on their staff.  Does anyone expect Duffy to consistently be more than a back of the rotation guy for us?  He was propped up last year by significantly outperforming his peripherals.  If Duffy is the centerpiece of a trade for Cueto, I think it is an obvious trade for us to make.  Obviously depends on prospects involved too, but if we trade a SP then anyone but Yordano should be on the table.

I also wonder if the Reds are looking to pair Cueto and oscar.

An example could be Cueto + oscar for Duffy + Prospect.  They might be trying to use Cueto to get out of paying for oscar.

cueto is not that good.  and he may be injured.

We have at least 3 pitchers better than 2012 Barry Zito.

But no one better than 2012 Bumgarner, Vogelsong, or Cain who started games 2-4

This Royals organization is redefining what winning baseball looks like. They don't need to start doing what teams in the recent past have done to be successful.

Listening to MLB Radio all drive back from the lake and it was awesome to hear how many times the hosts mentioned this theme...when they said the Yanks have to mimic the royals if they want to beat the royals I almost drove off the road.

I would not trade Duffy to get a rent a player like Cueto.

That said, calling him "not that good" isn't accurate. Unless you are just saying he isn't  good enough to give up someone like Duff

Cueto WHIP is 0.95, league hitting .199 vs him.

I'd rather trade Ventura than Duffy.

Has Ventura been able to get himself out of a jam all year? It doesn't seem like it, but he probably has at some point.

Ventura probably needs to spend the rest of the year in Omaha. If he can get it figured out, then MAYBE he has a role on this team during the playoffs. Sad to see so much talent going to waste.

I think MLB might have ruined him when they suspended him for playing the game the way it's supposed to be played.

If the Royals were a Wildcard team (yea this probably won't happen), who would you throw out there to start?  Ventura, Duffy, Volquez, Vargas, Guthrie, Young, or Medlen?

Volquez

He continues to struggle when runners get on base. Opponents now 41-109 vs him this year.
That's .376 average.  Last year he only allowed .236 with runners on.

.189 with no one on base in 2015 (.242 last year)

Moose thrown out at 2nd, some suspect D by us, and 3 outs after we get 2nd/3rd no outs.  Add in Ventura throwing batting practice in the 2nd....... Gonna be one of those nights
