The Oakland A's are just 13-24 despite having a run difference of 0.

That is because they are 1-12 in 1-run games, and they are 2-17 in 1 and 2 run games combined
(For comparison, Royals are 21-9 last 30 1-run games, counting the post season)

We did our part to help the A's 2-17 mark.   We scored 2 in the 8th in a 4-4 tie, and we scored 3 in the 8th when we down 2-1.

Sucks to be you Oakland  :Yuck:

you guys hear Billy Butler has been terrible lately? I looked at his May stats. .224 AVG, .237 OBP, .496 OPS. Man. Morales is .291/.350/.831 in May.

Duff is floundering.

He's a mental mess right now. It's hard to watch after seeing him last year.

He gets too cute 0-2. Can't do that when u have serious control issues.  Time to go to the Pen when Vargi gets healthy. I've seen enough for now

he was at 100 pitches.  even when he's pitching great, he struggles after 80-90 or so.  it was Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) to leave him out there with that pitch count.  i don't care what inning it was.

I don't think he was getting cute, he just served up a meatball because he can't locate.

Agree with cf3. Duff was consistently up the last two innings and even got away with a few. Could have been worse than 4-1.

he was a lot better today than last time out.  and he'll be better next time out than he was today.

late, he was fatigued.  don't judge him on the last inning, that was all yost.

He was okay and Yost forcing him to work innings blew up today. But his control and confidence is a shell of where he was last year. I can't blame Yost for forcing the issue with him a bit to try to get him back.

What I meant by cute is.... He throws some waste pitches because he is up 0-2, and he's hoping batter will chase. But his waste pitches are nowhere close and it's an easy take for batter. Before u know it, it's 2-2, then 3-2, and he throws a fat pitch.  When up 0-2 in count, try to hit the outer edge of strike zone. His control sux... Don't try to throw a ball, or it will be 18-24 inches off the plate

I've also changed my mind.  Pack your bags Duff. Go to Omaha, get yourself well because u are useless to this team right now

I get that Posse, and I think you're right. It sucks because he gets one more strike and we're all pumped about how he pitched, even with the crazy pitch count. I still think he deserves one more start.

Can we even send Duffy to Omaha without him having to clear waivers first?

Yep, throw him again and hope he breaks out of his funk. He was close today even though he labored. I was fine with Ned rolling the dice today with him.

Also, I really thought we'd get more than 1 off of Sabathia tonight.

bases loaded, no outs, and we get 1. Needed a big inning. Cain's strikeout looking was a back breaker. With runners on 1st and 3rd and 1 out, you can't strike out looking. Cain has to foul off anything close. If he pops up, he pops up, but you can't go down looking there. Putting the ball in play could've changed this entire game.

late, he was fatigued.  don't judge him on the last inning, that was all yost.

Was he fatigued when he walked the bases loaded.  Yankees #3-9 hitters all hit below .255

He has allowed 28 of his last 55 hitters to reach base.  Last 3 starts, he has 12 BB/HBPs and 5 scoreless innings.  That's pathetic.

Was he better today....Yes.   Is it good enough to be 1 of our 5 starters when everyone's healthy... No IMO.    If he gets Headley to pop out, he labors and goes 5, giving up 1.   That might have been fine, but he didn't do that.

Peeps hit only .209 vs him last year.  This year he is allowing 1.8 base runners per inning to reatch via hit walk or HBP
