Yeah my only complaint with Andy is that when he is on the radio he says "like" constantly. I mean I grew up in the 90's and he says it a noticeably weird amount

does he say: 'sweet' 'dude' 'man' 'phat' and junk like that too?

I've noticed that Andy has been mushing more faces on Twitter lately, but I still think he's a pretty good beat writer, and way better than the kind of joker that we usually get in Kansas City.

You have to critically follow Andy for awhile. "Body of work" which is a phrase I don't especially like, and which is too often misapplied, applies to Andy. Guys, he's good.

And he's KC Star articles are great.

The best part of Andy? His post-game questions try to hold Ned accountable.

It is nice having a beat writer who gets under the manager's skin.

The Royals are 11-3 when Vargas, Guthrie, or Young start. They are 11-10 when Ventura, Duffy, or Volquez start.

Hey Powercat Posse, this Ventura-hating son of a bitch just dominated your stat of the day with one of his own. What do you have to say about that?

I don't mind others posting cool stats at all.

But run support can be a funny thing.  Volquez only allowed 8 ERs and had a WHIP of 0.93 first 5 starts, but  he got saddled with 3 Losses as we only won 2 of the 5.   1 week ago, Guts and Vargi had a combined ERA of 5.93 but we had won 7 of their 10 starts.

Last year, Duffy's last 4 starts in May we got him 5 runs total.  Starting on June 19, he had 8 consecutive starts where the Royals got him a total of 15 runs.   He allowed 0 or 1 ERs in 8 of those 12 starts, but KC only won 4 of those 12.

Well, I said I don't mind others posting cool or interesting facts. I'm not gonna trash on his stat, but I did point out the 11-3 vs 11-10 has its flaws because of run support.

Counting postseason Royals won 16 of Ventura's last  19 starts in 2014. then won his first 2 this year.  His ERA was just over 3.00 in that stretch. I love Ventura and that's a very solid ERA, but Us winning 18 of 21 had other factors than just Ventura pitching well

i posted last year how i think it's interesting to look at the season as a series of 9-game groups. There are 18 groups of 9 games in one season. If you "win" a group you have to go 5-4 or better.

last year the Royals went 11-7 in their groups, which is pretty good, including finishing 5-2 (really good):

1      4   5      L
2      5   4      W
3      5   4      W

4      3   6      L
5      5   4      W
6      4   5      L
7      5   4      W
8      8   1      W

9      3   6      L
10      5   4      W
11      2   7      L
12      7   2      W
13      8   1      W
14      6   3      W

15      4   5      L
16      5   4      W
17      4   5      L
18      6   3      W

so far in 2015 they have won every group (including already winning Group 4 which will be finished off tonight)
1      7   2      W
2      5   4      W
3      5   4      W
4      5   3      W
