duffy and ventura hit walls at like 80-90 pitches.  they did all last year, and that isn't going to magically change just because shields is no longer around and you want them to pitch longer all of a sudden.

i don't think guthrie and vargas have endurance problems, hitters just figure them out after a while.

whatever the issue, volkie (maybe, dunno anything about him) is the only one that should be routinely expected/hoped to go deep in a game.  get the others out while the getting is good.

Ventura certainly has the headwind of needing to be overly cautious about hitting someone and it being perceived as intentional. That appears to have changed his approach a bit so far. When he's on and aggressive, he's been able to go deep. I have no stats on hand to support this fwiw, just a feel-y thing.
Please don't ban me, Mr. Dave.

Hope Ourdano isn't hurt :frown:
It's just his pride that's hurt right now. Nothing else.

Guts/Vargas are both capable of those super quick 6 pitch innings. Need more of that.

I bet we make a trade for a starting pitcher near the break.

Moose isn't this good a hitter, the SP isn't this bad. Relax.

For those asking, the 28 defensive runs saved for #Royals is NOT a typo. Cain is worth 8 alone, and they are plus at every position.

Who would we trade?
Maybe a reliever, Paulo, prospect, and some cash. Just spit ballin here. I hear Cole Hamels could be a target.

I'd be willing to part with Paulo and cash. I'd probably rather trade Rios. I think I'd rather have 3 good starters and an elite pen than 4 good starters and a good pen, though. You can shorten the rotation in October.

Isn't Rios just a one year deal or two? I don't know if any teams who are struggling would bite on a year guy.

I'm not sure how long Rios' contract is. Haven't given the trade discussion much thought.

It's fun to talk about. Even if it's way early. This is what having a good baseball teams is all about. It feels good, you guys!

The days of giving up scraps for other teams' good starters are done. Paulo, a reliever, and cash, will get not much. For an impact guy, you have to give up an impact guy.

I love Herrera, but I'd be fine with parting ways with him. Boom! Franchise closer for some scrub team.

Trading Herrera for Cole Hamels would make us worse.

Not with Hoch coming up soon. We have 3 closers that teams would die for. He's 1.c. Let him fly.

With Hoch in the pen, we only need starters to go 5 innings.

I think our best bet at improving the rotation is calling up Kyle Zimmer sometime in June/July.

DO NOT trade any of HDH. That would be ridiculously stupid. JMHO.

I think we'll likely ride out what we have. We may pick up some guys like we did last year, but I don't expect a big trade unless our starting rotation absolutely stinks. I agree with having 3 good starters and an elite pen over about anything else pitching wise.

His arm is still ruined. He's babying it back. This is not happening.

Moose. Total stud/ boss now. There should be more crow eating and praising going on (not here) than there is.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Also, bad teams looking to dump star players don't usually want relievers. Bad teams trade relievers, good teams trade FOR relievers.
