Good thing there are other guys that will step up. It's what makes these guys great

yup. I enjoyed Calixte's defense yesterday at SS.
We can't have long stretches without Esky. Calixte played very well at SS, but he has no presence at the plate. I'm also not a fan of Orlando leading off.

well, yeah. Escobar is probably the 2nd best player on the team, behind Cain. Agree with Orlando at lead-off, I would have put Colon in the lead off spot, but I'm no Ned Yost.

This team can't win a division without Escobar.

Most important position players:
1. Escobar
2. Perez
3. Cain
4. Gordon

Infante will be out less than 2 weeks because he is old. he finally got hot like i said he would too btw.
yep, I think he had quietly (until this weekend) hit in 7 straight. his offensive contributions this weekend were great - very timely/clutch to keep the wheels turning.

Infante has been swinging the bat pretty well actually. Colon hasn't.
this. althougth colon hasn't had a ton of chances. It's pretty well documented that Infante, while streaky, can really drive the ball.

I think in the long term Colon is a better option. Infante's shoulder is clearly still bothering him since he didn't have surgery over the offseason. He struggles to make the turn for routine double plays. Not saying infante is crap, I just like Colon better.  :dunno:

People let their frustration with an aging, streaky Infante blindly lead them to think that Colon is some big prospect. The guy's ceiling isn't all that much higher than what we've already seen. He's a serviceable utility guy but not much more. Infante brings more to the table.
Please don't ban me, Mr. Dave.

I think an injured Infante and a healthy Colon have the same ceiling.

I agree the frustration on Infante is a little excessive.  That being said, do we really have any clue what his ceiling is?  The dude is 25 years old with less than 100 AB's in the majors.

Hosmer is pretty damn important. If you'll agree to put him 5 I won't argue he should be 4 over Gordon.

Man, yesterday's game was so much fun.  It was almost certainly the most entertaining pre-All Star Break game I've ever watched.

I'd say it's:

1a. Perez
1b. escobar

But perez gets the nod, since he's a catcher/captain, etc.

I agree with 1a and 1b but I wouldn't give the nod to either. The drop from either to their backup is significant and losing either for a significant length of time would Royally ( :D) eff this team.

Gordon, Perez, Esky, Hosmer, and Cain are all one of the best 5 players at their position. What order you put them isn't as significant as the fact that we need all of them healthy and playing well to go back to the World Series.

we're so blessed as Royals fans to be arguing on April 20th about which of our all-stars is the most important all-star.

I love all these people that think because they played baseball in HS they are an authority on all this. It's like oh man, I played basketball in HS, I know exactly what's going on in LeBron's head right now.

I could give a crap about infante, IMO Colon is an upgrade at the plate and on D.

infante is a good hitter when healthy.  it'd be great if he'd ever be healthy some day.

Yea that is when I turned it off.  He is at the point where listening to him makes my ears bleed.  610 is without a doubt a better station during baseball season.  I can pretty much guarantee KK won't give 5 mins to the Royals vs Twins matchup tonight in his 4 hour allotted time.

What in the world?

Kietz is creating an issue and then driving it. Its what he's always done, but this time he's just being dumb (which he's done plenty of times before) Yeah, some people don't like some of the stuff the Royals did and throwing 100 MPH behind Lawrie by Herrera was probably questionable. But most baseball OR Royals people don't have the ridiculous opinions that he is expounding right now via twitter and on his show.

Even the baseball tonight people last night on ESPN were like "whatever. its baseball. it will work itself out. the royals are good." And that's it.

Man, we went from "The adorable Royals, Americas team!" to "Americas Villains" in one off season. Nicely done!
