Vargas was the guy I was most concerned about going into the season. I mean, look at his game log from last year:

He has games like today. If the team goes .500 in Vargas/Guthrie games, we'll be partying again in October.

100% yes.

People remember Vargas as some postseason stud, but its time to be realistic. This is who he is. He pitched very well in Game 3 of the ALCS, but the Game 1 in Anaheim, he was bailed out by Cain and Nori all day. He easily could've given up 5 in that game. Then, in the World Series, he was serviceable. Vargas is a 4th starter. If Yordano starts having multiple outings like this, or we get swept by Oakland, then we'll worry. For now, we're fine.
