Did no one read the Deadspin story about him getting that nickname? He got it because he's a lakers fan and loved James Worthy. That's the literal reason. It has nothing to do with throwing a baseball.

Spitballing here, but Brandon Mccarthy is 30, currently signed at $9m a year. Less than stellar ERA but has always played in pretty small ballparks. Pitched very well this season after being traded to the Yankees. Could be a Vargas type, for pretty cheap.
