I will be sick to my stomach watching these games. We're so close.

i can see this series going 7 games.

starting pitching is great for both
bullpen is great for both
defense is great for both
orioles have power
royals have speed

i mean it has to be shields and then ventura the first two games. no way they let vargas or guthrie see the mound in baltimore, right?

if we are up 2-0 or down 2-0, it doesn't make a difference. you start Vargas or Duffy for Game 3, and the other guy for Game 4. Seems simple to me. You have Guthrie and Finnegan for long relief, as well as Frasor for early innings work. Tim Collins scares the absolute crap out of me, and I can't believe we got away with using him in a tie game on Thursday in Anaheim.
Well yeah, you certainly aren't pitching Shields on two days rest or Ventura on one... I can see trying to throw Shields in game 4 if he is effective and throws <100 pitches in game 1.

Yes, that makes sense.

My selfish hope is this; Royals split in Baltimore, come home and win games 3/4 with Duffy/Guthrie, BGJ pitches game 5 when I have tickets and Royals clinch the WS birth. :D

I'd also accept 2-0 in Baltimore and split 3/4 at home.
In 2006 I made a similar wish as I was leaving game 2 of the NBA Finals.  With the Mavs up 2-0, I was hoping the Mavs would only win 1 game in Miami because I had tickets to game 6 and I wanted to be there when they won.  Mavs lost all 3 in Miami and and I watched Miami win the championship in game 6 in Dallas. :(

Hard to believe this is the same kid that the gE crew and the little man heckled the crap out of just 17 months ago at Tointon.

guys i found some old posts that are bringing tears to my eyes. i am only quoting my posts, but everybody has similar ones back around this time (except CF3)

they should sell every single player on the team. that way they will not have a team. no team is better than a ~.500 team, that's what i always say.

you know what is depressing? breaking down the first 100 games of the season into ten 10-game chunks

1-10: 4-6 L
11-20: 6-4 W
21-30: 4-6 L
31-40: 6-4 W
41-50: 4-6 L
51-60: 5-5 T
61-70: 9-1 W
71-80: 3-7 L
81-90: 6-4 W
91-100: 3-7 L

this is a sub-500 team with one fantastic 10-game stretch stuck in the middle  :frown:

in all seriousness though, we are done. the royals are done this year. i am not a defeatist person and i enjoyed last year tremendously all the way through. but there are too many teams to pass and we just can't do it.

that stupid 10-game win streak has completely ruined next year. if we had gone like 4-6 like we were supposed to, we'd be tied with Minnesota for last place in the division, and we'd have sold shields to oakland for yoenis mother rough ridin' cespedes
