ESPN says 99.6% chance of making the playoffs. That's pretty good, right?

Not good enough!  One more win and one more Seattle loss guarantees us at least a play in game, no?

Okay, there is no way we should lose to these losers. http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2014/09/will_clock_strike_12_on_cinder.html#incart_river

They have checked out. Booked flights last night

Technically no. Need a combo of 3 wins by us or losses by them. I think a win tonight and Seattle loss would lock us into a tiebreaker for the 2nd wildcard though.

Thats what I meant.  A play in game for the wildcard play in game.  Or do they not do those now?  What happens if we tie for the division?  I understand none of this!!!

Tiebreaker game at the team with the better season series record.

Any true royals fan can't have any idea about this stuff. I'm go ogling my fingers off. It's so great. Like being a new baby discovering all this stuff for the first time.

So we spray champagne for a playoff berth? I thought that was just for divisions but looks like Pittsburgh went nuts last night in their locker room.

I want to see that happen by Friday!

So, Atlanta offered the GM job to Hart.  I'm sure it's been discussed.

thoughts from HRBBIQ types?
as a life long braves fan i can tell you its freddi, plain and simple. our gm made some dumb moves and deserved to get the can but freddi is just the worst. actually anyone that has coached under cox still thinks his formula works today, which it can at times but atlanta was a big market club at the time. its hard to sustain success with a market like kc or Milwaukee. sorry for the rant

it's crazy to me that if we finish with the same record as Detroit, that our head-to-head record isn't the tiebreaker.

for us to win the division outright:

go 5-0, detroit goes 3-2 or worse
go 4-1, detroit goes 2-3 or worse
go 3-2, detroit goes 1-4 or worse
go 2-3, detroit goes 0-5

Vargas vs Bauer
Shields vs Quintana
Guthrie vs Noesi
Duffy vs Danks
Ventura vs Bassitt

and

Verlander vs Sale
Scherzer vs May
Porcello vs ???
Lobstein vs Nolasco
Price vs Gibson

this is so exciting. 5 games left. wow.

I think we finish 3 and 2 honestly. First wildcard.

odds are a hell of a lot better to go 5-1 with the pitching match ups coming. If this team hits it's going to happen

Are you also predicting the division tie breaker?

35% chance of winning the division purely at 50% chance of winning each game for both Det and KC

Man, if we win the division, we'll have off until Thursday and we can set up Shields/Duff/Ventura for games 1/2/3. Would Shields then pitch again in game 4? He'd be short a day's rest.

ESPN gives royals a 47.9% chance of winning division (not sure if that means outright or if it includes the tiebreaker game scenario)
