Good thing they have the extra wild card or else the Royals would be hitting that 3 decade milestone. Fortunately now they can "make" the "playoffs" and be just like the Chiefs, one and done.

Bunch of losers.

If we don't take the division, we will take the #1 WC. A's are done.

kept our winning streak at W2 even though we had that finished game thrown in the middle. feels good that MLB got this right.

Don't worry about Finnegan getting left out, he's on the roster.

it also means we were never 17 games over .500 (although we totes were)

810 was talking about leaving Guthrie off the 25 man roster and going with more position players. Keeping Finnegan and going from there. Interesting thought process.

Actually no 8MP. Guthrie is of no value in the playoffs.

Yeah, they said go with a 3 man rotation and have Ventura be your long reliever. They were giving a bunch of different variables. It was getting me excited.  :D

Totally disagree. Veteran pitcher, able to come out of the pen for long relief when necessary.

My 25:
Shields
Ventura
Vargas
Duffy
Frasor
Finnegan
Crow
Herrera
Davis
Holland

Butler
Willingham
Perez
Kratz
Hosmer
Infante
Escobar
Moustakas
Nix
Gordon
Cain
Dyson
Aoki

Then pick for final 2 spots:
Colon (if healthy)
J. MF Guts
Coleman bros :yuck:
Bueno..meh, but a lefty
Ibañez - an unfortunate lock

Ibanez can get tickets and sit in the front row.

Ha. Unfortunately, we know Ned. We need that "veteran leadership".

I think Yost's respect of vets and "baseball guys" will get Guthrie on the roster for sure and maybe Ibanez too

I don't get using Ventura as a long reliever.  He has better showings lately than Vargas.  I seea  4 man rotation and putting Guthrie in the pen.  F the Coleman's, Bueno but might need the left hand, Frasor.  Would you rather have Guthrie or Frasor?

Frasor. Also it wont happen but Duffy should start the Wild Card game.

It won't. 1. Shields 2. Duffy 3. Vargas/Duffy (It will be vargas cause he's a vet  :frown:) KICK ROCKS, GUTHRIE!

guthrie and ibanez will absolutely be on the playoff roster, dorks. this isnt fantasy baseball. those are clubhouse guys who have been on the team for most of this season, theyre not getting left behind.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Ned isn't quick enough to pull his starters for a long relief guy to be all that valuable imo. Obviously we haven't seen Yost manage in the playoffs, but we're usually down by a significant margin before Yost is willing to pull a starter pre 5th inning. The Royals don't have the sticks to come back from large deficits, so having a long relief guy to "keep you in it" may not be all that valuable. I would hope that Yost would change his strategy in the playoffs, but he's the most stubborn man on the planet, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Well, Vargas is the vet, plus you just had Duffy pitching the game before, so pitching him again wouldn't make much sense.

somebody fill in the blanks for me, as far as tie-breakers, extra games, who hosts who, etc:

if the royals and tigers end up with the same record:

if the tigers win the central, and the royals and A's end up with the same record:

if the tigers win the central, the A's have sole possession of the 1st wild card, and royals and mariners end up with the same record:
