Guys, I'm a pretty big Twins fan right now. I will add that I'm glad we're in good shape for the WC.
will la shut it down since they clinched? Hate when teams do that

They might, but hopefully they take care of business in the next 3. Also, you should do Oakland (they only lead us by 1).

how does a baseball team "shut it down"? give their ace a day off? i think teams are more afraid of messing with a pitcher's schedule than a freak injury at this point in the season

ANA needs to keep playing their regs for the next few games at least. BAL isn't that far behind and they need that home field.

If the rotation holds form, Shields should be ready for a wild card game... He would be on 4 days rest but should be good to go! Win that and Shields should be ready for game 3.

If no wild card we shouldn't have a problem with any starter going any ALDS games.

8 and 4 finish (assuming 10th inning game is a loss)  should be reasonable and would mean Seattle would have to go 11 to 2 to overtake us for final wild card.

8 and 4 also means Tigers would have to collapse with a 5 and 7 finish for us to take the division. Yuck.

Honestly, I changed my focus from division to wildcard after Sunday's loss. Well, Sunday I was pretty much done, but when I looked at the wildcard yesterday morning, it was clear we still had a really good shot. As Cf3 said, going 1-3 vs the Red Sox took away ANY margin for error and will require something like 10-2 (and a sweep of the Tigers) the rest of the way to win the division unless the Tigers do something really dumb in their other games.

a) Some people realizing that the other Royals thread was shut down.
b) Other people realizing that winning the division has become extremely tough, but going as one of the wildcards is extremely realistic.

Man, that's too bad. Probably one of my top 2 or 3 Royals memories ever, it was just so fun.
