I'd love to see the streak end, but we're about to watch the most entertaining, and frustrating, collapse of a baseball team in playoff contention (possibly) ever.

There are over a 100 examples of a worse collapse in MLB history.

True.

This just feels worse than the Cleveland mess last week. And that was terrible.

This thread right now is a perfect example of a fan base that hasn't seen their team go to the playoffs in almost thirty years. Baseball is weird. We could start another run tomorrow, and Detroit could fall off a cliff. Much stranger things have happened.

you may be kidding, but

9 singles and 1 double is not better than 5 singles, a double, and 2 home runs

Cleveland was at home...that felt much worse.  The piss poor defense has made this series feel pretty horrible though.

Yes, but it doesn't feel like that. It feels like we've been hanging on by a thread for a week. I hope that run is coming though.

Oh, I definitely agree that it doesn't feel like we're going to turn it on, but we all felt that way after the all-star break as well. Like I said, baseball is weird, and there's a reason that stats are so prevalent in this sport...because gut feelings aren't very good at predicting the game.

There are over a 100 examples of a worse collapse in MLB history.

'64 Phillies were epic. (Pre-playoffs). They led by 6-1/2 with 12 games left and didn't win another game. Lost the NL pennant.

Not really. We're talking about professional sports here. They mean nothing.
