so, we're essentially 79-64, Detroit is 79-65. we kind of have to take 3 games from them, because our remaining schedules are pretty much identical (3 vs Cleveland, the rest vs Chicago and Boston/Minnesota).  :/

Going to be FUN.....I mean a 10 game lead would be nice and all but they aren't going to give us the division...we got to take it from them.  Ole Limpy Cabrera is going to bite them in the ass.

Fun fact: If the Royals score two more runs in the 8th and the 9th, they'll be tied.

again, just want to pose the question, why did Ned not take out Guthrie when it was 4-2?

Didn't want to get under his dome, wanted him to qualify for the W, etc. etc. etc.

prolly cause it would have been either 0-2 or 1-2 if the defense had been playing adequately.

Seriously?  4-2 you think we should rip him out?  Maybe 6 I could get down with this thinking.

If it was Duffy or Shields, no. When Guthrie goes bad, he's awful

yes I was.  At that point he had went 1-2-3 in the first.  2nd inning had two hard hit singles, a walk, then the Hosmer double error that should have gotten out of the inning with no runs scored.  3rd inning had 3 singles and one double at the point it turned into 4-2 (with another Hosmer failed play).  I mean I know we have a huge bullpen out there now but I don't think you pull him there.

so, i wasn't watching.  but the detroit radio guys were talking like the royals shoulda been out of it easy.  the hosmer error obviously.  then in the next inning they were lolling it up that escobar didn't throw out some guy on a play "he always makes".  infield single that took hosmer off the bag.  then they were agast that the royals didn't turn a double play on a ball they acted like was the platonic ideal of a double play ball.  they killed esky and infante for that one.

It was pretty uncharacteristic of all parties involved defensively.

So all of the people who think Ned is a bad manager are right, now?

McCullough says Ned told him Holland was again unavailable today. Hopes he can pitch tomorrow. Starting to wonder about this a bit.

It was 6-4-3 and Infante (permanent #2 hitter in the lineup even though he has done nothing since June) put nothing on the throw to 1st. Would've been close, but probs a DP

I like Infante a lot, but he has developed arm problems, which Ned admits. Yet Ned plays him as the games become more important each day. Ned Nedding and Yost Yosting.
