Aoki routinely makes the dumbest plays. I don't even know what to say.

you think he defied the manager to lay down a sacrifice?  he did it twice.  if he was doing it on his own, someone couldn't have yelled at him?

He made the decision to bunt on his own? Isn't he hitting some ridiculously high BA with RISP? The first time he tried arms it went foul Ned shoulda gone out there and told him to stop being a dumb ass

I think he absolutely did it on his own. Even Ned wouldn't bunt in that situation.
When one person, for whatever reason, has a chance to lead an exceptional life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

so after the first attempt, none of the base coaches could catch his eye?  no one could yell at him from the dugout?  how could he do it twice?

Someone should have yelled. Of course, maybe they just didn't think he was nutty enough to try another bunt or had lost track of the outs.

dunno, first one looked like a bunt for hit. seriously doubt they expected him to do it again.
