The hope I have that separates this year from last year: Moose is our 7 hitter. If he can give us league average 7 spot production, I'll be okay. Our biggest problem last year was that we needed him to be a 5 hitter, and our offense relied on him giving us middle of the order production, which we obviously didn't get. Now that we've added legitimate threats at 1 and 2 (and I have all the faith in the world in Nori and Omar), any good production we get out of moose at 7 is a luxury.
Now, our biggest offensive issue at the moment is leaving runners on base, and I blame the 4-7 guys for that. I feel like Hos, Butler and Gordon are going to come around. And if they step up while our starting pitching remains even close to what it's been, we'll contend. But if Billy is our best hitter all season, we won't make the playoffs.
