as you all know I break down the season in pods of 6 games. the royals are undefeated in the most recent 6 game pod. I may or may not stretch the pod length to 7+ games depending on various analytical factors and computers later on.

i'm probably deluding myself, but it seems to me that the royals are basically fine at defending and offending, it's just that they suck at pitching.

Too much HS pitching. Burnout % of HS pitchers is way too high. Draft college pitching exclusively imo.

Singer, Kowar, Lynch and Lacy were all college pitchers taken in the first round over the last 5 years.  Singer is probably a legit #2 in most rotations so they didn't completely whiff I guess.

3rd most runs allowed and 3rd fewest runs produced. Pitching may appear worse without Aroldis and Barlow. Bob has been the only reliable bat other than MJ who has played well since the All Star break.

That’s what I’m saying. The college pitchers drafted actually sometimes make the rotation. I’m not talking Royals only here either. I hate drafting HS pitchers (in early rounds at least).

A lot of talk leading up to this year's draft about how their minor league pitching development sucked and they've made some changes there that look promising. Regardless, taking pitchers in the first round is risky, high schoolers more so than college.
