The royals finished 10 games over .500 this year. In Ervins starts, they were under .500. Let that one sink in.

That just shows how completely worthless the W-L stat for pitchers is.

Your stat is equally as worthless, if not moreso.

i agree that W/L is a worthless stat but the point is the royals were very successful on the season even though they lost half of his starts. (i misspoke earlier when i said the royals were less than .500; they were exactly .500)

Shields 21-13
Guthrie 19-14
Santana 16-16
Davis 10-14
Chen 9-6
Mendoza 5-10
Duffy 5-0
Ventura 1-2
Smith 0-1

Total 86-76

He was a workhorse though, there is no denying that. He pitched 211 of the starters' 986 total innings (21%)

I would hope that he pitched 21% of the starters innings considering that he pitches in 1/5 of the games.
