Agree, SdK. Ned is too laid back. He accepts the Royals' chronic streakiness and offers it up as an excuse for losing. He   can't consistently handle a pitching staff and too often passes off long offensive slumps as "one of those things." His season-long refusal to bench Alex can only be based on the guy's huge contract. Ned simply is not a top-notch manager.

I agree with everything you said. Alex should have been sat down a long time ago. I had hoped he was really going to get benched for a length of time. But alas, never missed a game.

Ned figured out a routine and used the roster given to him to get to back to back world series and win one. Also to get to playoff contention for two years after that, both seasons just fizzled out. Granted, partially because he was stuck in that same routine, and when it quit working he had no answer.

Still, I will remember him as one of the best Royals managers ever and I will never forget 14 and 15. When I walk by the Ned statue at the K someday I will have lots of great memories.

Last 20 starts for Kennedy:

1) allowed 885 OPS. Hosmer has a 886 OPS which is 14th best in AL
2) allowed 542 Slug. Moose has a 550 Slug which is 8th best in AL
3) allowed 6.47 ERA. Only 1 AL pitcher with 80+ innings has a ERA higher than 6.47.

So Kennedy basically has been facing Hos or Moose every Plate Appearance for 20 starts.

I, too, will never forget 14 and 15 and can respect the job he did. And your point about the same routine is absolutely spot on, but that's the sad part. Ned hasn't figured it out and likely never will.
