Can you see it?
Its Game 1 in Houston, and Danny Duffy takes the hill. There's a shot of him warming up in the pen about 15 minutes before the game is to start, and his face is steel. Salvy is smiling and as they walk from the bullpen to the dugout, he stops to sign a ball for a young Astros fan and allows another to take a selfie, but Duffy's face is set, deeply focused on the task at hand.
The Royals go down 1-2-3 in the Top of the 1st, and as Fox returns from commercial Joe Buck addresses the national TV crowd with what happened as the Royals took the field. "Folks while we were at commercial and the Royals took the field their starting pitcher Danny Duffy knelt down behind the pitching rubber and drew a number 30 with his fingers in the dirt. He then paused and put his hand over the patch honoring Yordano Ventura the team has worn all season before continuing his warm up routine. (long pause). You'll remember Ventura who was an integral part of the Royals in their back to back pennants passed in a car accident in his native Dominican Republic in January. (long pause) The Royals are a close team and many of these guys played together going back to their earliest seasons in the lower levels of the Royals system, and Duffy made it clear to us before the game Ventura has been on his mind this week as they've prepared for this series. (long pause) so... here's Springer to lead things off for Houston........"
