I'm glad you got that speed moose in when you did, it may be a long time before it can be used again.

they should win pretty easy today with the ace on the mound against this scrub.  if they don't, my god, i can't even imagine it.

santana is such a freak (with walking).  too bad (for him) that he's not faster.

how interesting would baseball be if instead of walking to the dugout after reaching home (and scoring 1 run) you chose to risk it and run to first.  If you then reached home again in the same inning you would score 9 runs.  Do it again and you get 27 runs.

runs =  3^(cycles-1)

you can be thrown out at first, or you automatically take first after crossing home?

Choose to automatically take first (only available if first is open).

OK, but then we would have to think about the runner at first.  As well as making the base power 4 then (run = 4^(cycles-1)) because it would be much harder.

9 runs is a lot, i think it should be pretty hard.  but what i like about the being thrown out at first thing is that you could force the defense to choose between recording outs at first or letting other runners advance.

i guess it'd pretty much always pay to make the play at first (maybe not on some plays from left?), but if there was some ability of the scoring runner to fake as if he was going to first before committing completely . . .

what if the scoring team didn't have to gamble with the run they just scored, they would just gamble with having another out recorded (also could be run is removed if called out at first, not removed if called safe)

i like that you keep the run if safe at first idea.  can't advance on home runs, obviously, only balls in play which would improve the game by devaluing home runs.

Not a bad idea.  I like it, but I want additional cycles to be worth more than just a additional run.  I could settle on run = 2^(cycle-1) in this case.

that sounds about right.  would really add some interest/drama to games with big leads, which are currently pretty much game over situs.

especially stealing 3rd, which is currently devalued, to the detriment of the game.

that last play was a good one, btw.  colon could have easily gotten to 1st, i think.  and if the indians had tried to make a play there, dyson would have taken 3rd.  most likely the indians would have conceded 1st to keep dyson at 2nd.
