Take a lap, ben ji. Butera has thrown out 45% of SB attempts and has one passed ball in 163 innings. Those aren't good stats, they're great.

Was there tonight. Atmosphere was solid throughout, went to another level from the 9th on. Walking Butera, with pitches so far outside the zone (not ball 4) was the cardinal sin. Only Coleman has looked more overmatched this season than Drew. Probably should have walked Morales and pitched to Infants. Can't wait to see what overpriced fa Anaheim signs in the offseason only to regret two years later.

The main difference between Coleman and Butera is that Coleman has no MLB credentials, while Butera is widely recognized as a good defensive MLB catcher. Drew can't hit, but his defensive skills are what keeps him in the bigs.

I believe the Angels will overhaul in the off-season. Scioscia will get canned, but will catch on as a manager with another MLB club because he's a good manager when supported with good front office personnel and good player personnel decisions.

His defensive skills have been garbage with the royals.

no, they haven't.

9 Wild Pitches and 1 Passed ball in 163 innings this year.

Not to mention our pitchers have a 5+ ERA when he is catching.

what is our pitchers ERA when he starts the game? he plays a lot of garbage time so total ERA isnt the best start.

I'm pretty satisied with Butera. He's been fine, and the walk last night was amazing. Rios seems to be doing just enough to not be completely and entirely useless.

WC I hate him. He's a complete idiot.

I wondered that as well.  It looked like there was some dude trying to pick up on her around the middle of the game which was mildly entertaining.

Butera caught our three biggest blowout losses - NY, BOS, & CLE - so his catching ERA is inflated. Two of those games were Guthrie and the other was Young.

Wild pitches are about the pitcher, not the catcher...

not really.  from my vantage point, maybe 10% of wild pitches are completely uncatchable.  how many of the rest are prevented depends on the skill of the catcher.

Well, have you listened to the guy on 610 before? Because he's a hack and an attention whore, but yes, super cool that he can travel all over to watch baseball. I'd do that too if my team was the Marlins.

Walking moose to walk beaut-era was unforgivable really

walking butesie was unforgivable.  walking moose is a debatable choice - it makes a lot of sense if your closer has good control (no idea if street normally does).
