Let's hope Dayton gets busy right away to sign Cueto to an extension. He needs to be more than a rental.

We had cash considerations thrown in, so hopefully that's what it will be used for.

I like keeping Starling to potentially provide future outfield help. Sad to see Finnegan go but I figure you generally have to give something up to get an ace.

Need to open a roster spot for Cueto. Yordano looks good today. If he keeps if up, I think Blanton will be DFA'd. He has no options.

Unless they DL someone, Blanton is gone.

Not sure who gets taken out of the rotation (Young or Guts).  I am pretty sure both Young and Guts will make their next start Cause Cueto won't pitch til Thursday.

Volquez (Mon)
Young (Tue)
Guts (wed)
Cueto (Thur)
Duff (Friday)
Ventura (Saturday)
----that's my guess anyway. Then early next week either Guts or Young doesn't start.

Blanton was a great grab for what he's done for us. I really appreciate everything he's done for us.

It won't be. Cueto will be asking for $30 million+ per season.

If Yordano is back, and Cueto just pitches to his average, we are unstoppable.

maybe he will take the 17 million per year qualifying offer for a chance at another WS,

The cash is probably to replace Lamb in the rotation next year. I'm fine with that if Dayton can go find another Volquez-quality pitcher.

If Ventura can just transform himself into an ace this offseason, he can replace Cueto.

How good do the Royals look, and on the flip side how bad do the Padres look with them willing to trade James for 7 peanuts and a sea world key chain.

Players may receive a  QO only if they played the entire season for the team they can leave for free agency.
So Cueto can't get one. We'll have to spend a bunch to keep him.
