You can definitely argue he's not the best, but you said "you don't think anyone still believes" he's the best. But a large percentage of baseball minds still believe he is with the way he evaluates talent, angles in amateur drafts, trades that build the systems, (farm and big league), free agent pick ups, etc.
Top 3 (to me) still currently in baseball are Beane, Dombrowski and Jocketty. Will hold off on Hoyer as I think he's a product of a combo/Epstein deal.
