We're going to have to give up a good prospect too.

most likely.

no reason to trade gordon. he wouldnt want to leave a title contender with 1/2 a season left on his contract.

i would trade holland, moose, herrera, in that order. problem is you dont get much for a reliever who isnt a closer.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

They will never trade moose even if he hits a billion infield flies with runners on

The only guys DM will trade would be Manaea, Zimmer, Bonafacio, Starling, Dozier, Finnegan and Eibner.

Nobody will get traded from the MLB team.
When one person, for whatever reason, has a chance to lead an exceptional life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

I'd really like to bury the Twins and focus purely on the playoffs post ASG

it might benefit both parties to trade Finnegan. we gave him a WS appearance in his rookie year, then he got fat, and now we're jerking him around between being a starter and reliever and omaha and back and maybe someone else can help him blossom into the dreamy young man we all know him to be

We're an awful franchise when it comes to developing our own pitchers from within.

Just wanted to say even though the last few games have been frustrating it's still pretty adorable to see posters who are knowledgeable about baseball pretend to not know terms like "short porch" and "band box".  It's like that other thread where Michigancat pretended to not know how to use a fax machine.     :D

everyone knows what "bandbox" means, but the question is, what TF is a bandbox, other than a terrible baseball word?

kind of like "vaunted". nobody uses "vaunted" except lazy journalists when they are talking about a team's offense or defense

in a NL game when a pitcher gets an RBI, they just have to say "...and he helps himself right here!"

that one is stupid. Like, if the left fielder gets an RBI he isn't helping himself too?

I hate it when an announcer says "the payoff pitch"

Bandboxes actually have nothing to do with musical bands but are those old timey round decorative boxes that people got hats in 100 years ago.

Source:  A Cubs game back in the 80's where Harry Caray rambled about it for a while.  Harry was drinking back then so who knows if this is true.  I don't really know how someone could look at this and say, "Yep, looks just like the inside of a baseball stadium."

A band box is just another name for an orchestra pit. Hence it being small and compact. rough ridin' Harry Caray  dude was always shitfaced what the hell did he know?

Yeah like I said this was when Harry was still drinking and always mentioning Budweiser as the primary sponsor every time he chugged a cup of it.

"Cigar box" is another term used for a dinky stadium but that one doesn't seem to get mentioned very often.

Jesus you guys, it would be lame if the announcer said "the pitcher places his toes on the edge of the rubber bar that's in the center of the pitchers mound"

Every sport has its own lingo, get over it

I use to use "Texas Leaguer" all the time when doing the generals games. It was my way of talking down the competition on some lame ass hit that they lobbed out there.
