At which point he'll be the same age as Gordon when he was a shitty Major League player?

Why does that even matter? It's not like the Royals should be drafting players and expecting them to play their entire career in Kansas City. If they draft a player who doesn't even make the MLB Roster during the duration of his first contract, the pick is a bust.

Look, I don't love the Starling pick, but he has plenty of opportunity to still develop into a very good player for us. Just because we've seen a handful of guys dominate right away recently doesn't mean that is the norm, even for a top five pick.

I think a lot of people had written Gordon off before he had his breakout year, and then he followed that up with a pud year.

Billy Butler is probably the best first round pick the Royals have made over the past decade. I like Billy, and I've come around to liking Gordon, but it's very disheartening to see a franchise pick in the top 10 nearly every single year, only to end up with Billy and Alex being the stars, while other franchises end up with legitimate superstars.
