, and by and large you have a fawning media and then everybody on the team thinks they're the absolute shizz-nizzle and then it all goes to crap very quickly because everyone was just happy to be there.

Outside of the late 70's to mid 80's and 60's to early 70's KC Chiefs. That's KC professional sports in a nutshell.

well yeah I hope that they sustain success, but it really isn't all that likely. The window is really this year and next to be a division winning caliber team. But that's ok, as long as they use the sucking years to rebuild in a good way
