I wonder what MIR thinks about the Dodgers shitty attendance.
It's a baseball issue, not a Kansas City issue.
I don't know what their attendance was yesterday but it looked abhorrent. FWIW their capacity percentage is top 5 in the league, I looked it up when I saw that "crowd" they had. Also overall league attendance down.
What I'd like to know it's why is there a seeming apathy in Kansas City with this team? I'm happy for the long suffering fans, but why isn't the bandwagon rolling? Do people hate the Glass family that much? Apparently last week the Chiefs last preseason game had a rating 4x higher than the Royals that night, that seems crazy to me. I'm just shocked that this franchise is in a position that they haven't been in for 3 decades and there isn't more buy in. Everyone loves a Cinderella story in sports.
1. NFL will outdraw MLB in TV every time. Forever and forever and forever. The Royals ratings are consistently up and some of the highest local ratings in the country.
2. My personal experience in KC this summer is that there IS a great deal of buy in. More Royals gear being worn, more discussion, more attendance at games, and more emotional investment. The 10 game homestand had 4 games with over 30K. I bet you'll see a big jump in overall attendance next year with more people buying season ticket packages. The 13k and 15k nights are disappointing, but the atmosphere at those games is completely different. The fans that are there are loud, engaged, and excited for the Royals.
