when we play detroit, it's looking like it will be:

verlander vs guthrie
scherzer vs vargas
porcello vs shields

Verlander is becoming a shell of his former self.

I think we hit well against pitchers who are becoming shells of their former selves.

oscar Chen is a really great guy, but is also a really bad baseball player at this point in his career. Time to part ways.

i expected to check this thread this morning and find a bunch of morons with faces that look like this  :curse: cursing Ned for Brucing it up last night. to my delighted surprise, nope, just a bunch of level headed guys who are used to taking 2 out of 3 from every team we face, and losing a close game with our #5 starter. feels great you guys, i'm proud of you.  :)

our #5 starter has 10 wins. this is the royals we're talking about. 5 years ago our Cy Young award winner had like 12 wins. i mean what on earth. life is great right now.

mocat it is time to be done with Chen though. Just use Hendricks or something for long relief.

you know what's awesome? The following teams are 6-4 in their last 10 games:

Royals
Tigers
Mariners
Orioles
Yankees
Indians

we are in the exact same spot we were 10 games ago. We've "cooled off" a bit and Detroit has "heated up" again, but look where we're at. Reason to be happy kids.

Why would you expect people to be cursing Ned? We are in first place.

one thing that i am a little concerned about but probably shouldn't be. From now until exactly 1 week from today, the Royals have 6 games. The Tigers have 8 games. We could go 4-2 and have a great week, and the Tigers could go 6-2 in the same week and end up only 1/2 game back. I shouldn't worry about that though.

As Cf3 said last night, I think Ned played it right going for the win in the 8th/9th with his best bats at the plate. After he threw Bueno/Frasor to get to Herrera and Holland and a tie game we pretty much had to hope that Chen had some magic after the offense didn't get it done. Once we have call ups we'll have more options for a situation like this when one of the big 3 pen guys isn't going to pitch. I'm assuming Ned will keep oscar around for the occasional innings eating situation down the stretch, which is his role anyway.
