it's hilarious that Yost, of all people, was hired on as a special assistant.  I guess if you want someone to be able to identify crap managing, you hire someone with experience at being a crap manager.  Yost freaking got canned just in enough time for the Brewers to save their season and make the playoffs in '08.  that fracking team had Sabathia, Sheets, Fielder, Braun, (though Gagne turned out to be a bust and they had a couple of starters go out).

And finally the 3rd base coach, Owen, has been fired.  The Royals would have scored twice the number of runs that they have this year (and last) had Owens not been around.

Rusty Kuntz rehired to be 1st base coach.  Robinson moved from 1st to 3rd.

Love me some Rusty Kuntz.  That man has fantastic hair, IIRC.

Why do you guys cheer for a team that has no chance (0%) of winning anything?

Plus, a lot of us became Royals fans b/c a) they were the local team and b) there were winning (the world series in fact) when we became fans.

Yep, grew up about a hour from KC so got several summer trips up to games with either my dad or uncle growing up. I was born in '83 so I was a little too young to remember the WS, but I was really starting to get into baseball in the last few years before the strike so I was cheering for a team that was still pretty decent. George Brett was my childhood hero (tried to be a 3B when I played little league, and my number in everything was #5) and I've never really been one to switch my team just because they suck (hence being a fan of not only the Royals, but the Chiefs, all KSU sports, and various other sucky teams along the way).

With great struggle comes great reward. Being a fan during the losing only makes being a fan during the winning that much more sweeter.  I hate bandwagon fans that jump on board with a team whenever they win, just because their other team sucks.  Most Royals fans have put up with losing so long that most of the ones still around are in it for all the right reasons. Loyalty.
