it's a quote from sean keeler, an employee of the des moines register.

       <------  sean keeler

he was talking about mcdermott's record in a des moines register sponsored chat with sean keeler thing.  basically saying it wasn't fair to compare mcdermsey to martin.

Either way, how could SLTH-fans/media types not be extremely jealous of Martin?  I really can't blame them.

gotta be double bad for fans of ISU as opposed to NU/CU just because of the relative success of the ISU program.  they had the bad boy in Eustacy.  i wonder how many of them would love to have him back.

kind of apples and oranges with Dalonte Hill and Whitlock.  you can see the envy dripping through the lines when JW writes about Hill.  envy for the charm, looks and money.

Tough for ISU fans.  You have guys like Tinsley, Blalock, and Stinson that were definitely not SLTH types and they loved them, but then they seem to regress back to a SLTH mindset so easily.

You know part of them really misses Wayne and his "poor" coaching and "losing control" of his team.

don't underestimate any fan base's comfort level with the 25 pass offense and low heart rate style of play.  i have 2 idiots that sit next to me at games who I think would love to have Wooldridge back.

Its very difficult for a fan to remove themself from their 1980s (or before) basketball experience or their 2A basketball experience*.

*No offense to SD who I'm sure was a great passer/cutter.

Is there a better distillation of the SLTH credo?

Quote from: keeler
to be mediocre with integrity
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Ad mediocritate per integer.

Dammit. Wish I had time to make an official SLTH seal now, complete with short white guys taking charges and mid-range jumpers while wearing mortarboards.

not at all sure it's correct.  maybe:

Ad mediocritate per integrum?

not really sure "integer/integrum" is the best choice, but if it's close, it'd be nice to preserve the cognate.

Good slasher/rebounder.  Mediocre shooter/ballhandler.  Great defender against larger opponents in the paint.  I was the Dom Sutton of SW Kansas 2A.

Two thoughts:

1. don't we need some banners before they can be taken down?  Is he implying that we will win some, then have them stripped?

2. Maybe he no so good with words and is trying to say that we will be winning some banners means unrolling them from the rafters.

He's saying that we are metaphorically hanging banners and we won't sustain it imo.
