Anybody else think we looked just fine to pretty good in the first half?  That's why I'm not worried.

we looked bad

so, like, ksu has played 3 real games...and 2 of them have been complete dogsh*t efforts, specifically in post play (imo).  we blaming it on the competition?

In all seriousness, who gives a eff.

trends?  :dunno:  It’s fairly disappointing and kind of points to a place of weakness and depth issues.

The trend is that Martin/Huggs teams will always be wildly inconsistent, especially early in the season.  Just roll with it.  :driving:

I guess I was just hoping for something different.  but the post play is an issue.

only an issue if you believed the "best frontcourt in the nation" nonsense.  And you close your eyes and pretend CK will not play all year.

Could somebody tell me that Frank is a genius and has stretched CK's punishment so that there is no game film on him from this year yet? Maybe he learned some new moves? Maybe he can fly and doesn't want Duke to know?

No, didn't buy that at all and do expect Curt to play at some point, though the fact that he didn't do what he needs to do to get on the court in the biggest season of his career is concerning but still is par for the course in this team's lack of consistent focus.  However, still expected more from Wally and Freddy.  The guards have been a nice surprise, especially Gruds.

All I saw was a complete lack of intensity and poor shooting. Once they picked up the energy late in the game, the poor shooting continued along with Pullen forcing shots, but they started to force turnovers and weren't giving up open threes. If they would have played like that all night, it would have been a blowout.

I think deep down we all know we're overrated by quite a bit, but just want to dismiss it until we absolutely have to.

No we all don't know that.  Many of us don't take Phog talking points to heart and know that there isn't a such thing as under or overrated in CBB and certainly not at this point in the season.  It isn't football it will all work out in the end.
Who said it won't work out in the end? We aren't a top 5 team right now, probably not a top 10 team either. If you can't see that then you're Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

Yeah, tossing up 3 ball bricks with 30-25 seconds left on the shot clock is a great surprise....

I'm on board with this being the perfect outcome 3 days before taking on a reeling Gonzaga team. Would hate to be a part of the team right now though, those stairs are going to be worn down

is it bad to expect that we are?  i don't think it's unrealistic.  not that it sucks if we are "only" a top 15 team, but I'd like a #1 seed.

Anyone can think we aren't a top five team for a number of reasons.  This game isn't one of those reasons.

Not sure why I'm even having this conversation with you, but anyway.  I  know I have seen more college basketball than you and although its hard to tell at this point at this point who is what I don't have a problem with where anyone is ranked not sure how anyone could.  How many teams have you seen play?  There are literally scores of writers in both polls who disagree with you.  Don't be so insecure, those Phog talking points don't mean anything.

I guess I'm not saying we aren't a top 5 team, I'm saying that if we are, we'll need better post play, regardless of curt's playing time.  It isn't like the rest of the bigs have done much of anything to make you say that it (post play) won't be an issue.  in contrast, the guards have in 3 games provided some reason to believe that it (guard play) may not be as large of an issue as we might have thought.  Unfair?  Or We can just throw it at the feet of "hey, frank's teams never play well early" and just move on to other more fun topics like Stan's inability to not be destroyed by Frank before the half time or post game interview even starts.

In the millions of basketball games you've watched, how many teams did you see with poor post play and thought "Now that's an outstanding team".

Guard play has been ok, post play has sucked pretty much every game. If Kelly steps up huge, we might be ok, but right now, we are not playing good and don't deserve the accolades we are getting. I don't give a crap what the Phog says, that's what I'm saying.

That sounds like a great idea.  When you add it all up, our guards look a little better than expected and frontcourt looks a little worse than expected.  Like I said.  Who gives a eff.  I mean, last year, you were pretty sure we were off the bubble after Ole Miss beat us.  It's November.  Sheesh.  :driving:

What does it take to score on/break a zone?

(basically) Great 3 pt shooting OR a big man who can hit a 15 footer consistently- you guessed it, that is where Kelly fits in. Other things are involved yes, but those 2 things are critical. We proved last night we don't have anyone that can hit that 15 footer except him.

We will be alright against it when he is back IMO.

Not being able to outrebound Presbyterian is much more concerning than our offense against the zone. I'm sure our bigs will try against Gonzaga. Hopefully Kelly plays. :emawkid:
