I heard it and I'm pretty sure Frank pronounced it exactly like sarsparilla.

With the "per" in the middle.

Apparently pronouncing someones name incorrectly is the Cuban to Columbian equivalent of benching someone for being a FP, TC, etc...

They did ask Freddy. And he said he prefers ah-SPREE-ya. They were told a-SPRILL-a before the season, then they asked Freddy after the first exh game, since the PA guy caught some flak for saying as-PRILL-a. Freddy said ah-SPREE-ya. Which is why the PA says it that way now.

It can be pronounced both ways. I asked Freddy in person and he said ah-SPREE-uh but Frank's way works too. Everybody's elite nicknames still stand  :ck:
