He's a nice guy...Kinda like Wooly, but can recruit like a sunuvabich -- he just missed on his qb this yr.   I have to think that OB would have his talent winning at least 10 games this season.

The UT fans I know down here are pimping Will Muschamp (DC) and it's well known that he's HCIW... but their D this yr has been pretty suspect IMO. BTW, how hard is it to recruit to Austin with all of the things UT's got going for them? I think it's one of those places that recruits itself.

I wouldn't say he is a really good recruiter. Almost anyone could get the recruits he gets to come to Austin. That's a very easy place to recruit to.

It's weird how everyone says "college is all about the Jimmys and the Joes" and then knocks on Mack for being awesome at that. Weird in a stupid way (<--just to clarify).

That's what happens when you lose out on NBAF.  Everything is slowly deteriorating in Autsin.

Dude,  I love Mack Brown. Great coach/guy. The recruiting does itself in Austin.

Yeah. It's like the Phil Jackson "can't win without Jordan/Kobe/Shaq" talking point.

Gilbert was like the #1 qb in his class.  UT didn't miss in their recruiting.

Gilbert sucks, so UT (and rivals, scout and espn) definitely missed when evaluating his talent.

Dude has a ton of talent.  If Mack missed on his eval, so did about every coach in the country.  Freems had games like yesterday and last I checked he's doing pretty weel for himself.  Gilbert is young, this is still his first season as a starter.  By the time he graduates, he'll be very good and (at least) get a cup of coffee in the league.

I suppose you think that Jason Bennett is a hell of a basketball player, too.

I must have missed the time when Bennett started for a team that was a year removed from the MNC game and had consistantly brought in top 5 talent for like a decade.

You must have missed the part where Gilbert took over a team that just played in the MNC and couldn't even lead them to a bowl game the very next year.

Lotta things wrong with Texas right now, it's an awful lot to ask a young QB to be the savior.  Plus the whole "replacing a 4 year starter" thing.  But nice job comparing Gilbert to Bennett.  You can literally hear the mouth breathing in your posts.

I tried to look up Garrett Gilbert's passer efficiency rating here, but since he is not one of the best 100 (out of 120) QB's, he does not appear on the list. The dude has thrown 7 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Just keep telling yourself that he is good, though.

Back on topic, Mack Brown is a hell of a coach, and winning at Texas is not as easy as most people think.

hes a good recruiter.  he got good recruits to go to north carolina, for football.  look how many rules butch davis has broken to get the same types of recruits to go there...

but the guy cant coach his way out of a paper bag.

I will give Mack some credit for showing some class when walking out on the field and seeing how RD was after the cheap shot, unlike Pete Carroll's high fiving after A Lockett got blasted

Is it worse than the "Can't win without Vince Young" talking point?
