Worked for a shirt tuck in Great Bend today. At lunch, he told me that Gary Patterson was going to be an assistant coach with the understand that he'd be the head coach when LHC Bill Snyder decides to retire. This is because Patterson needs to be informed/taught how to coach Snyder's system.

JFC, these people are why we can't have nice things.

Also, spending the weekend in Garden City. Good news, El Zarape isn't really gone. The gay guy and his mom took the recipes and people and started a new place in the old Grain Bin. Sweet.

I talked to a big donor today. Mentioned Leavitt coming back and that he heard it from up high.

Then he mentioned that Leavitt agreed to work for $1 because he was still getting paid from USF. I then immediately realized that this whole thing was complete bullshit. I was disappointed.

yeah, the fact that this shirt tuck seriously thought that the coach of a top 5 team was going to quit his job, go to manhattan, and be an assistant for a few years to "learn the ropes" is hilarious.

Startling to me that this is more common among them then we think.

yeah, the owner of el zarape owed over $100,000 in back taxes, so they got shut down. The gay brother opened this new place, I ate there tonight and it's really good. A couple of guys I went to high school with are co-owners of the place, pretty good guys.

When I lived in SWKansas I'd make the 40 mile drive (1 way) at least once a week to eat at El Zarape. I probably would have eaten a dusty turd if if was covered in their green chile sauce.

The last few years out there I made a switch to El Camino, it is rather spectacular (but different) as well.

When Zarape shut down a friend still out there was enraged. His text messages made it pretty clear that he was gonna burn Garden City to the ground if things weren't corrected and fast. He mellowed when he learned things were reopening. I'll have to ask him at the game Saturday if he has hit the new spot yet.

Yeah, they couldn't bother to pay taxes or even not steal from each other but I'm sure they ran a real tight ship in the cleanliness department.
