Southwell, I kind of like.
Williams, looks too raw to get many minutes this year.
Spradling, meh. Maybe he just had a bad game.

The title of this thread implies you were only going to mention one freshman, not the freshmen.

I thought Southwell looked like he has the most upside from the class. Spradling didnt look bad, kinda slow

Southwell = meh, funny looking shot, but atleast made a few free throws, looked like Akeem out there (just based on looks)
Sprads = not going to judge him until he plays against some quicker guards, not a sharpshooter
Nino = looks athletic, decent shot, very raw for sure
Potsaksupgz = thought I was watching a Clifton-Clyde game

Sprads will be fun to follow on this board this year, especially when he plays the most of all the frosh.

Spradling looked like the best freshman out there. Not the most upside, but the most ready to play right now.

Agreed, don't get the "looked slow" remark

Anyone seriously trying to take anything out of this game, is probably better off re-watching the "midnight madness" scrimmage

Did you watch him on defense...he was blown by a lot.

He seemed really aggressive all up in their faces and what not(HBIQ term.) If he could ease off a bit and wait for the opportunity, he might be better off. My .02.

I wonder if maybe he's not keeping his butt down far enough or possibly letting his heels touch during defensive slide drills?  Look for the coaching staff to address this in practice before Sunday.

I'm unsure if some of you have watched Frank Martin coached basketball before. Sprads was actually pressuring the ball like he's supposed to, and like lots of young guards in Martin's system, getting beat. Just think of Clemente. Plus, he was taken in and out by Frank for messing up the least for guards not named Pullen. Finally, he looked most comfortable of all the guards playing with Pullen in the game with him, which was probably the biggest thing ti watch all night in this game. Of course, that can all change, but this game only showed me Sprads is going to play a lot this year, especially if the soph guards don't step up.

Really wish he would have nailed that pull-up transition 3.  Would have made me feel really good.

-shane is akeem as we all declared him to be long ago.
-lol at nino's turnover.
-but, let's be honest, this is a sprads thread.  I loved his transition 3 and how he is kinda a ball hog.  A lot of the new kids want nothing to do with the ball so he's fun to watch in that.  It's going to be interesting watching him make denis' exact mistakes without denis crazy upside games and having gpc NOT turn on him because of his white coach's kidedness.  I like him.

This is a great breakdown.  I really liked....nay, LOVED the heat-check-esque transition three when he had been chucking bricks all night.  And I like Akeem Southwell - Akeems are great to have around when they aren't your number 2 or 3 offensive threat.

I am totally on board with this.  He's probably our best low post entry passer out of all of our guards....some has to throw Wally his brick-assists.  Save the hate for Wally, IMO.  :curse:
