Yep.  It's actually a good thing.  Pressure's off, Turner...time to shine.

It was a homecoming game in which everybody went home. At this rate, there’s no guarantee they’ll be coming back.

The Kansas University football team suffered its third straight embarrassing beating Saturday night, this time a 45-10 laugher at the hands of struggling Texas A&M. By the end, it looked as if the university might have changed one of its school colors to silver, as the glare of Memorial Stadium’s empty seats looked more suited to surrounding a scrimmage than an actual college football contest.

DO NOT READ if you want, but there are some absolute gems in here. Found this from WavetheWheat on the KU rebel bbs who I guess found it on the Slant...it originally comes from the dad of Kevin Young (one of the KU players).

I feel like we’re sitting through the ending of the movie ‘Inception’. This can’t be real……could it?

First off, there has been so much speculating and guessing to what is really going on with this team. I live/work in and around Lawrence and interact with these kids quite often. Also, having the good fortunes of dealing with their families and friends coming from all over the country on game weekends.

There is a TON of frustration amongst the families and the players themselves. From the starters on down to the the walk-ons, the theme is most of these Coaches are well liked on a “personal level.” BUT……….Players are becoming more confused as the season drags on. The switching of positions is a hot topic, as I’m yet to hear one single player/parent get on board with these moves. The other big thing throughout the season has been the constant “Confusion” with regards to players knowing and buying into their assignments. This is pretty evident at this point.

Everyone is bagging on the Defensive Line. Rightfully so, to a point. How would you feel if you’re being told in so many words: “Don’t get to the quarterback”. “Play gap sound football and let the Linebackers and Secondary put the pressure on QB”. Whenever the D-Lineman do attempt to make a play on the QB, their being called “Selfish!” How long do you think it takes for the morale of the DL to take a nose dive? There’s a reason why KU is dead last in sacks.

Toben Opurum is moved to his third position and everyone expects Dwight Freeney out there. Not gonna happen. The kid isn’t even comfortable putting his hand in the grass for God’s sake. He does what the Coaches ask, but trust me when I tell you he’s not too happy behind the scenes. You move Josh Richardson to DE…….Please! Then, you only give the kid a couple snaps. Tyronne Sellers is put in to take a snap on the last play of the first half as A&M kneels the ball. That should get his depleted confidence up. Sellers will be at HB/TE next season. Surprised the move hasn’t been made yet. Quniton Woods would rather be sitting on the bench in the ‘Big House’ than wasting away in Lawrence Kansas. He fought kicking and screaming all the way to Lawrence Kansas last year. He wanted no part of this program and longs for better days back in Flint Michigan. Woods alone should kill the Juco hype machine that permeates these boards every season. Keba is built like a baby Earl Campbell from the waist down. Kid runs, or I should say Stomps with heavy feet. Still some debate whether or not he moves inside. Keba is getting invaluable experience at this point. Only time will tell with him and the other young guys. Jake Laptad.....OMG. Do you really think Laptad "Sucks" all of a sudden? Jake is 100% healthy and his production alone should be slapping us all in the face, as to what is being asked of the DL. Laptad is doing what he is told!!!!!!! He is this years version of a senior getting the proverbial shaft.

Our DT’s are doing the best they can. Yes, their getting swallowed up sometimes. I repeat…..LOOK AT THE SCHEMES!!!! They are doing what is being asked. The defensive lines are basically attempting to clogs lanes and hold everything up for the LB’s & CB’s. Where is Dent? His people want to know this very question. Hell, his own teammates want to know.

No, I wasn’t going to leave out #90. Remember me always harping about accountability with these players? Well, this situation is no different. I finally told Kevin to take his head out of his ass or my foot would accompany him at every turn. Show some damn pride, don't half ass it when things aren't going right, or your tired! How in the hell did Kevin let his weight balloon like this?.........I know how. My credit card statement and the fast food joints around Lawrence had a field day with my finances as of late. On top of all that, he hasn’t practiced or lifted 100% of the time in over 4 months. This is what happens when the medical staff is trying to pin point a nasty upper respiratory infection that was diagnosed as everything from asthma, allergies, sinus infection, mononucleosis, and now chronic tonsillitis. Take into account you’re being put on various steroids, antibiotics, and halftime injections and who the hell knows what this does to a person’s body chemistry. This has caused breathing and air-way issues since the beginning of the season. Should have had the recommended surgery and took a medical redshirt, but it didn’t happen because he was hard headed. Again, I put some of this on Kevin Young. He needs to show the discipline to keep himself in shape and stay focused. Lastly, It’s freakin sad when we have to go outside the program to look for S&C help. I’m gonna give you a quote and you interpret it for yourself: “We didn’t want to come into the program and be too hard on the guys right from the get go. They’ve been through a lot. But, you will see a change in our approach in winter workouts” …………….Wow. I really don’t want to comment on the things I’ve heard about the S&C system that is now in place at KU. I do agree, the OL and DL look like dog doo when it comes to certain players physiques. Yoga and flexibility exercises better be at the forefront for the lineman in the off season. Like a bunch of stiff boards running around out there. Yes, the rumors are true: This team has basically killed any type of cardio/distance training. Hope to see that return as well. Oh yea, is there any way of keeping these players the hell out of Lawrence's finest dining establishments all hours of the night? What happened to eating at the training table and self discipline on the players part? Something is lacking there that wasn't a problem in the past.

Lastly, it really makes no sense to keep downplaying the talent on this team. Are you telling me that this staff wouldn’t have recruited these same players had they been here, say 2 years ago? What caliber of player do you really expect this program to attract to Kansas? Seems to be some unrealistic expectations placed upon the new staff. Would recruits rather come to Kansas with the expectations of playing early? Or, would the recruit rather go elsewhere and get better coaching waiting their turn down the depth chart in a winning environment/program? Don’t kid yourself, every single one of these players is striving for the NFL. Which situation gives a player the best odds?

I can count on two hands of players and their parents wanting to explore transfer options at the end of the season. Amazingly, I had one mom tell me she still communicates with a previous staff member/coach about her frustrations and help placing her son in a different program next year. I've heard players are seriously considering playing Juco, Division II & III football rather than return to KU next season. If Coach Gill is truly not satisfied with some of the current players, then do them a favor and give them their release papers. Some of the players haven't forgotten the comment made by Coach Torbush with regards to seeking better talent. True or not, this rubbed some the wrong way. Should KU Football always be recruiting better "Coaching Talent" as well? To each his own, I guess.

Overall, this season sucks to high heaven! But, what other choice do we have? Players need to suck it up or move on. Show some pride out there and earn that free education.

The crowd looks no different than the crowd for the 2nd half of the K-State/Nebraska game.  KU fans left in the 2nd half after witnessing another embarrassing performance.  This is a picture of the crowd from the 1st quarter:

Actual attendance was 44,239, after KU got beat by a combined score of 114-14 in its past two games.

KU lowered their prices to $15 for those tickets.  There were a lot of freebies being given out again too.  ku's athletic department must be losing $$$ like crazy.

Iowa State had to lower tickets to $10 for the game this weekend... and include a hot dog with the ticket purchase.

Game would be a sellout if walking tacos were sold at Jack Trice.  :chainsaw:

Pretty ironic considering that K-State filled up two sections for your "Midnight Madness" and shut off the rest of the arena.
