I'm not exactly a sunshine pumper but: WTF?!  Lubbock is the anus of BCS towns.  Manhattan isn't exactly the crown jewel but it's one whole hell of a lot better than Lubbock.  The only interesting thing I saw in Lubbock was Spike Dykes sending recruits off from a the hotel bar with huged-titted blonde bimbos for half-hour strolls down the hotel corridors.  I mean the only thing down the second floor hallway they were exiting through were the rooms so they must've just been going for nice walks, right?

UPDATE: Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post discussed a few other possibilities for Dan Hawkins replacements (Hawkins still has his job, of course, but as discussed below, there's not much faith that he'll be sticking around much longer) in his mailbag Sunday, including Air Force coach Troy Calhoun and former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach.

Kiszla writes that he can't see either one happening, but it might be worth it to keep both names in mind as the Hawkins speculation continues to escalate.

In fact, Krieger believes that Hawkins might be relieved of his duties before the end of the season, so that athletic director Mike Bohn can have a successor in place the day after the finale. In that case, Krieger says that associate head coach/LB coach Brian Cabral would be the most likely candidate to serve as interim coach, which he did in 2004 when Gary Barnett was on administrative leave.

Krieger also throws out the names of two currently unemployed, high-profile coaches who would be strong candidates: former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti, who we suggested on Friday might be a fit for the Buffs, and ever-popular former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach.

Neither of these coaches are on the short list presented by Post colleague Woody Paige last Thursday, and Krieger acknowledges, "Whether CU is willing to pay a big-name coach the going rate remains to be seen."

I think it is obvious what needs to happen here.  We need to lose to CU.  saves Hawk, and angers the KStateo.  if they get angry enough, he could still be ours.  I dont see a down side to this.

Hire Leach and Jim Leavitt.  It's completely Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) to bash Leach for not winning the conference at Tech when he had to compete against OU and what used to be a good Texas program.  Get Leavitt with him so we have a defense, and the 'Cats would be competitive.

That said, Leach would go to Colorado in a heartbeat.  Boulder > Manhattan.
