GMAFB, forbidding the protest of funerals is oppression, you're a jackass
You have stated in another thread that you don't mind the government spying on you, and now you're saying that you want to government to set guidelines for how, when, and where to protest. Free societies do not give the government these kinds of powers.
*I understand that protesting funerals is not politically correct, and I hate the Phelps clan as much as the next guy. I just don't want a government as big and powerful as you do.
Yeah, it would take a huge government agency/bureaucracy to make protesting funerals illegal
After reading a little bit more about this, I think the case will clearly go to the Phelps monsters. They only protest military funerals, over 1000 feet away from the cemetery, and don't shout stuff at all, just hold their offensive signs. They are even discretionary about which military funerals, only choosing those that the media has been invited to (not surprising here). Apparently the father suing didn't even know they were there until after it happened. Probably not the strongest case to bring to the Supreme Court if your goal was to end this practice.
