Nothing about the way Kansas stumbled inspired a belief that this is a program being steered in the right direction. For example, why did head coach Turner Gill need to burn a timeout on fourth down after a lengthy replay review supplied ample time to get everyone organized for the next play? The sideline looked so chaotic. It’s the fifth week of the season. Not good.

It felt a lot more one-sided than Baylor 55, Kansas 7 on Saturday in Floyd Casey Stadium. It felt like Tiger Woods meets Charles Barkley in a golf match, Danica Patrick gets chased by Fred Flintstone on a banked oval, a beauty contest between Cher’s original face and her most recent face-lift.

KU football had one of those embarrassingly bad losses to Baylor on Saturday, 55-7.

I think most fans figured it would be a tough year but this seems to go beyond worst-case scenario expectations.

I think one particular comment on the post-game talk at Rock Chalk Talk sums it up: "We were supposed to be permanently beyond the days where rough ridin' Baylor could have easily dropped 70 on us."

Or perhaps this is a history lesson for the younger KU fans who may not appreciate how far Kansas football has come since the 80s, because they weren’t around when KU and K State were fighting for the bottom of the Big Eight.

Where do we go from here? Good Question. I would LIKE to say a gutty inspored performance in upseting a now favored K-state team at home. I would love to say this was the last loss of the year, but that would be a homer talking. Quite honestly, i am at a loss for what to expect the rest of the season now. Then again, how was that any different than any game so far this year. maybe that's the theme of Gill's first year.
