That there could be a pretty major event at midnight madness regarding one basketball practice facility.

Can't confirm, but rumblings are strong..........

Thanks, and welcome to the board.   We have learned the same...I'd say it's 99.998% confirmed.

Yes, the practice facility will make its debut for March Madness and Madness will be held inside of it.

So...what are the specifics of these rumblings....grumblings?

It's going to be gorgeous.  Oodles of, you guessed it, limestone.  Here is what I was told by an insidery type....it's going to be state of the art, will NOT skimp on aesthetics (Like Hav's Alco)...they will publish renderings later so everyone can see how nice it will be.  They are talking about it in terms of it being among the very best facilities in the Nation....Greenawalt's going to love his new weight room, etc.  The funds are from private sources, which is huge, because the REALLY exciting stuff is going to be about the 40-50 million improvements that they'd love to do on BSFS, from public sources (bonds, bitches)....you won't be able to swing a dead cat without hitting a booster in a luxury suite.

Word is that Currie and Veatch are killing it on the fund raising trail, talking to folks who had never even been approached by the old regime.  It certainly assists Currie and Veatch to have a top 5 basketball team and a Non-KU-esque football team (just having Bill back does re-open some of the old reliable wallets).

It's all really, really positive.  Trim may have to change his tune on Currie..... :surprised:

That was the one thing that I had heard the most about Currie when he signed on, that he was a talented fund raiser.  Discounted it, because that has to be pretty rough ridin' easy job at Tenn.  Looks like he might be pretty good though.

I hear a master plan that UPKS wants completed by 2025 which will cost well over $100 million is being put together.   I hear UPKS is fully on board and wants the first 2 phases done ASAP.   UPKS wants that entire end of campus transformed while NBAF is being constructed.   Total price tag of all construction on that end of campus by 2015 . . .  nearly $1 Billion dollars.

Speaking of the old regime, every entity of the university had their own "exclusive" donor list that was "untouchable".  :blindfold:

Word is that UPKS busted that practice early in his tenure which opened the doors for all across campus.  For example, Currie and Veatch can now approach donors that were only on the Foundation list, previously.  They would have been paddled or forced to work in the Derby Dining Center dirty dish line for a month under the previous regime if they contacted a donor on another list.

But, I'm also willing to venture that Mad Max, Mr. Pheasants Forever or T-Y Bob worked their Ath. Dept. donor list about as hard Sweet Lew worked his "rented" exercise equipment.  Shocker, I know.

with all the engineers and architects we have had since the mid 90s there has to be some good money out there now, 10 years into their careers.

Get me audio of him reviewing one of his "letters" that an intern drafted and then making fun of how the overwhelmingly tard KSU fanbase will eat the words up, and I'm in.

Yeah, I used to work at the Foundation when I was at KSU.  The "Untouchable" list thing and department/college donor lists never made any sense to me. IT basically assured the fundraisers and people in charge of cultivating any sort of development of never having to work hard.  There was little to no research done as far as finding new sources for $$$, and the donors they were hitting up for cash weren't hit up for enough.  Unless you were a big/substantial donor you were also just kind of put into a "General Alumni" pool as well, w/ crossed fingers for a $200 donoation every 5 yrs or w/e.  That seems to have changed.  And yes, Veatch is  really good at what he does.
