An excellent timeout by Gill.  Great inspirational/learning opportunity for the Mangino trash.

Yeah, they almost got that play off.  I say end on a high note by getting off a solid play.

Boom, penalty free rush for a gain.  Baylor won the battle but I think we can all say that Turner as his boys are on their way to winning the war.

Was it military appr' day in Waco?  tough to win when that is going on.  Turner may have rolled over to show his respect for the troops?

Art Briles is adorable.  Looks like a guy you'd call to come snake your toilet or talk to at the local grain elevator about bean prices.  Real salt of the earth kinda guy I guess is what I'm getting at.

Also, a total prick for leaving his third team in to run up the score.  Real classy, Art.

KU went 1-7 in the Big 12 last year with the best QB and two best WR's in school history.  I'm not saying that the coaching today didn't suck equally as bad as the players on the field, but no, I'm not going to place all of the blame for this loss on Gill.  Mangino was a solid coach, but KU's o-line is below average for a BCS program and the defense is slow.  Gill inherited this team, and he's going to have to figure out a way to make them competitive somehow.

Wouldn't doubt it for a second.  He's known to say

Agree 100%. Tough to recruit solid players to a garbage town like Lawrence. Gill showing real guts to take the KU job, surely means good things for KU going forward.

Great call Ben . . . good to see you've correctly changed your mind and determined that indeed the cupboard was bare, and that Mangino recruited a bunch of really bad players.

Bingo!

He's polishing this turd as much as anyone could.  Sometimes it shines (Georgia Tech), but mostly it just looks like a turd.

I wouldn't say that the cupboard was completely bare, but KU definitely has holes at certain spots.  The d-line/o-line are especially bad for a Big 12 program.  I'm going to at least give Gill a couple years to bring in some of his own recruits before I write him off as the worst KU football coach since Terry Allen.

That 3.10 avg star rating in the 2008 recruiting class sure is looking way off now . . . T. Gill must be shaking his head over what Mangino left behind.

Literally a Maurice Couch commitment away from being back on '07 level of competitiveness.

Guys...

Gill at Buffalo 20-30
Gill at KU 2-3

Everything is right on track folks.  A couple plays go the other way today and it's a whole new ball game.

Out of the four o-line recruits in that class, only two are still on the team, and one of them was switched to d-tackle (John Williams).  Like I said, KU's o-line is awful for a Big 12 program.  KU isn't bad at the skill positions, but there's not much you can do when you can't run the football or protect the QB on a consistent basis.

Gill's big mistake was assembling a crackerjack recruiting team rather than coach 'em up types. But it'll pay off in time.

I honestly kind of feel bed for Gill.  I don't know that he is the right guy for the job, but I doubt he ever gets a chance to really prove himself.  They will have a new AD next year and that guy is gong to want to get someone else in there in a hurry especially if the fans keep going apeshit over KU losing like they are.  I can see Gill going like 8-15 over two years and getting run out of town.

He would be hard pressed to get another HC job again after that.  Sucks for him.  He won't ever get the chance.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I really liked the defensive gameplan Torbush put together today.   The players just didn't execute.

Yeah, clearly it's the coach's fault that a 6'3 215 WR from Baylor out-ran everyone on KU's defense for a 94 yard TD after catching a screen pass.  I'll be damned if Torbush doesn't step out there on the field and make the tackles himself.
