i really want to check out the panama canal.

The logistics of the canal itself are impressive. The food in Panama is damn near worth the trip in it's own right. People from all over the world helped build the canal (obviously) and eventually settled in Panama afterwards. Strong Chinese influence, with obvious local customs mixed in. Still don't think I would make a trip down there just for the canal or the food though. It's very difficult/time consuming to see much of the canal and there are probably better food venues in the world the world that offer more easily accessed sites. If you've never been- Spain is incredible and the Azores are probably my #1 locale in the world.

i'd do it. even just a few years ago, you would have had to forgo numerous games. today, you can watch almost everything, and at least listen to anything you can't see.

imo-- Seeing the world is vastly underrated, but only for those with the right intellect and sense of adventure. One major litmus test: when you visit a new city, do you (1) try to go to a restaurant or other place that you won't find elsewhere, or (2) do you look for an Applebee's or some other chain that you know?

#1, you'll probably have a great time.
#2, you are a pedestrian rube, so please do the world a favor and stay at home.

I've enjoyed every trip I've been on, and some of my biggest regrets are trips I didn't take for one reason or another.

But yes traveling the world is vastly underrated. So far I've only been able to do so through books and film, but there are so many places I'd love to experience.

I think people who travel enjoy far less stress in their lives than those who don't travel as much. Have you ever noticed how good looking professional travelers are at the airport?

Studied abroad for 5 months during college, LOVED IT, I could probably live a year or two in a place but then come back to the U.S. after that, traveling places you get to see all the touristy type stuff but living in a place you really get to immerse yourself in the culture and learn all the cool little stuff, would LOVE to have a vacation house abroad, anybody want to go halfsies

Deep water fishing? Look no further than the monster Stripers patrolling the deep channel at Milford Lake.

Large metropolis squalor your bag? KCK.

Glitz and glamor with high-end shopping? Boom, Leawood.

European heritage? Lindsburgh might as well be Old Stockholm. And, don't forget the jewel that is the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.

Rock climbing? Feast your eyes on the road cuts along I-70 in the Flint Hills.

Exotic Animals? That one rich guy's private zoo in Salina.

Large public spectacles? That river deal in Wichita.

....I could on and on. Fats, there is a WHOLE WORLD out there, and it's all accessible using nothing more than your KDL and a reliable set of wheels!

Why go to Egypt or a museum to see mummies when you could just go the garden of eden in kansas and check out that dead guy.
