Probably not a terribly relevant stat to compare right now, as UCLA and ISU have both had to face DT.  (KSU is 11th in the nation in rushing)  Plus, UCLA played Standford (14th) and ISU played Iowa  (56th).  UCF has played Buffalo (83rd), S. Dakota(FCS), and NC state (who is 74th.)

*edit-  Kinda forgot about N. Illinois (21st rushing)  and Houston (39th).

He is definately a good QB, but let me tell you, he will not have played in an environment like he is going to on Saturday. 14k+ at Buffalo, will not compare to 50k+ in Manhattan, it will be very loud, I can assure you. It will be a great game, but being a true fresman, he will have his hands full. Those aren't NC State's scrubs playing, btw.  And that guy with the long hair that keeps chasing after him is very fast, our QB is just faster.

I understand the typical freshman mistakes thing in front of large crowds.  But, I am telling you, this kid is different and not your normal freshman.

Here's what he told our center right before going in that game: "Listen to me. I've been here before. I'll lead us to victory. Follow me."

He almost did if it weren't for that fumble.

Also looks like he had a bunch of offers from high end schools like Miami and Tennessee. It's cool that he decided to commit to a program like UCF with a great coach like O'Leary and be a big fish in a small pond. He looked good in the 4th quarter down 2 and 3 scores with no pressure.  Didn't tear up that juggernaut Buffalo though when they had some film on him.  130 yds passing and 14 rush for 39 yds??This post was edited on 9/20 11:07 AM by micimac

Talented kid no question about that.  I watched the NC State game and was impressed with him.  I also think NC State is a very good team I was impressed with them in their win over Cincinati.

The one thing I will say is he's a true freshman and we have a couple of games worth of film on him now.  It's not the same as coming off the bench when the other team isn't ready for you.  He'll be on the road in a loud enviroment against a team that is prepared for him and more athletic and talented then Buffalo was this past weekend. 

I do believe we have our hands full nobody here is taking UCF lightly at all.  We have a big back and a big offfensive line so it's not secret what we're going to try and do against UCF's smaller faster defense.  We're going to pound the ball and be physical on offense.  On defense I think we'll mix up a lot of coverages probably more often then not look to just contain the QB and cover with 7 or sometimes even 8 guys.  We'll bring pressure on occasion to change it up but our MO has been bend but don't break on defense and force the other team to put together sustained drives.  Our hope will be if we force the young QB to go 10 or 12 plays on a drive that he is going to make some mistakes before you get into the end zone.  Should be a good game to watch I think you'll be impressed with our RB Daniel Thomas IMO he's one of the very best in the country at that position.Re: Mods: How did this post happen?
