Kickoff Coverage
« on: September 11, 2010, 08:58:22 AM »
I thoroughly enjoy watching guys who excel at special teams. I particularly enjoy dudes who excel at ko coverage. Has anybody excluding PoetWarrior noticed Jarrett Wright #38 on KO's? The first kickoff of the year for us he strategically flew downfield and absolutely lit up a big TE for UCLA. Knocked the UCLA dude's helmet off in fact. The fun part was that it was a clear touchback and Wright went all out anyway.

- move the ko line back to the 30 and lets make it fun again.
- i think we invented the pooch kickoff back in '96 or so, when gramatica used the wind to balloon the ball.
- phil bennett was the reason david allen was good at punt returns. Aside from David's sleek and fluid moves, Coach Bennett was the punt return special teams coach from '99-02. He worked those guys' asses off on that unit.
- We used to block punts like it was going out of style. Let's go ahead and return to those days.

Lamark Brown made a lot of ST tackles last year.  Used to infuriate me.

Me too! I was always leery of him tweaking a hammy and getting hurt.

I think he injured his hand on his first tackle of the year.
