Whatever happened must have been really bad. Imposing that on yourself is insane, but TN must think it is better than what the NCAA would do.

ESPN is also saying Pearl will forfeit 1.5 mil in salary over the next 5 years. Maybe I'm just ill-informed but I don't remember a coach ever getting punished like that before.

Gotta be worse that was has been reported so far. Exessive contact is nothing. Lying to the NCAA sounds bad but I would assume lots of people lie, at least initially, when approached about possible violations. I just can't imagine that being worth 5 years and 2 mil.

That WR from Georgia got 4 games for selling an agent a jersey for a grand. It's not unusual to see players get punished harshly but coaches usually get nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Just seems like the most severe punishment I've seen a coach receive. At least that I can recall, anyway. 2 mil is a lot of dough, even for a dude that makes a lot of dough.

1.5 mill is correct. an additional .5 million is delayed 5 years.

i can't recall a financial penalty for a coach either, other than being fired. good for utenn though, punish the coach and reward yourself.

Weiser wanted to hire Pearl before Wooly's last year, but Weef's stepped in and gave Wooly an extra year.
