Deloss Dodds, the Texas AD was just interviewed on a number of topics, including the recent realignment question. He said:
"Oklahoma couldn't separate from Oklahoma State. And Kansas couldn't separate from Kansas State."
Problematic if true.

What surprises me out of this is that it seems like OkState wasn't really wanted then.
Its pretty obvious to anyone with a working brain that Kstate isn't wanted by any major conference. OkState on the other hand, has some stuff to offer.

Like what? Decent football and decent basketball teams, but no flagship program and most importantly absolutely no market. So when looking at Ok State what do they actually bring to the table money wise? T Boone isn't going to be donating millions of dollars to a conference so I don't know why his name gets so much play when reallignment talk is brought up.

T. Boone has shown he will however donate money to improve his own schools stuff. And you don't want to add a school that has chit facilities with no foreseeable way to fix that. The fact that he will drop a couple hundred mill real quick to improve things is a big deal.

Again, how does that make a conference money?????? Wow so OSU doesn't have chit facilities anymore, not sure how that brings in more money to a conference, but good for them. Ok State has no television market and just decent football team.

Re: Realignment redux
T. Boone has spent a lot of money, and while the facilities are great (at least the ones that have been built--the athletic village is still non-existent thanks to the bottom falling out of T. Boone's hedge fund), they haven't translated to great success in basketball or football. OSU is first-rate in things like cross-country, golf, and wrestling, but that doesn't make any money.

OSU will be in the mix as long as T. Boone is alive. That guy has what you would call ALOT of friends. And I don't know what the hierarchy is in his conglomerate of businesses, but if it is littered with OSU folks, they'll probably be ok even after he's passed on.

Re: Realignment redux Post Rating (1 vote)
Do you really think the Board of Regents is going to care if KU's athletic and/or academic standing slips because of the KSU anchor? From my view, they have been focused over the past 20 years on trying to somehow make the two institutions equally regarded, which has had the unfortunate effect of costing KU a significant amount of slippage in the national rankings. Certainly KU's slippage has not been solely a result of that, but I do believe that the BOR has been attempting to boost KSU while doing comparatively little to help KU. I recall that about 20 years ago the BOR folded some aircraft training school in Salina into a KSU satellite campus -- even though to my knowledge KSU didn't have a relevant degree program, while WSU would have, and is located in what at least was once considered to be the general aviation capital of the world. That is just an example of what I perceive is an attempt to elevate KSU's enrollment and standing to the detriment of other state institutions.
Based on the comments of the BOR guy regarding Lew's resignation yesterday, I think the BOR hasn't the slightest clue about what is best for KU and absolutely would tie the two schools together, even though it harms KU. In fact, I fully expect that to happen the next time around, and the fact that we had to join the likes of ISU and KSU in grabbing our ankles to keep the conference together is a result of that.

T. Boone donated 100 million to UT. Also he endorsed Rick Perry. He's in tight with the bluebloods of Texas, and you can bet he won't let them go anywhere without OSU.

It's a Chip Brown interview on the Texas rivals premium board. If you have other rivals subscriptions it may be available.
Incidentally, he also complimented KU on the upgrade to their facilities.

Re: Realignment redux
I really don't understand the mindset that KU and KSU have to be in the same conference.
There are examples all over the map that shows that it's not necessary.
